Analysis Summary

Silence is a financially motivated threat actor group that has primarily targeted Russian financial institutions. The campaign delivers TrueBot (aka Silence.Downloader) malware via phishing emails.

Silence’s main targets are located in Russia, although it has been observed that phishing emails being sent to bank employees in more than 25 countries of Central and Western Europe, Africa and Asia. In February 2018, members of Silence conducted a successful attack on a bank and stole money via card processing.
